Dream

As they fight about it
I try to write about it
But it gets traumatic
Now as it gets dramatic
And I am crazy anyway

I want to be informed
Of the bad news of the day
About who got away
With what today and why I see
Them get away on TV

Reality deformed
To such a mess of madness
This criminality
Mistakenly underway
Has what it takes to make crime pay

Bad guys in their badness
Who enjoy impunity
As they destroy it all
When the truth comes out no doubt it
May be a wake-up call

But to be assailed this way
By this daily sadness
Gets to be too much for me
This unreality
Begets new nightmares day by day

As crazy as it seems
I still dream of better than
Authoritarian
Regimes that seem to steal our dreams
I dream all of them fall
All over the world someday

I turn off my TV and pray
And go do what I can

Good for you! For those afraid of the news thinking it's distorted or fake, I say you have a distorted view of the world from lack of input. There's nothing wrong with the mainstream news channels that always strive to provide unbiased and accurate news. Good journalism demands it. Nothing has changed except the world as become more complex and change is everywhere challenging what was always thought to be so. It is just folks like those who don't get the news who have very distorted view of reality from their limited perspective, and then they go vote without knowing what they are really voting for.

Daily sadness and daily madness. We're better off without tv news. If it bleeds it leads. Just give me local newspaper.
