Maybe the reason I am still here
My 65th season to end the old year
Is that I am still figuring out
All of the things I always wondered about
Out here to do my best for the rest
For however long it takes me to get through
Something that becomes me like a quest
To find out if anything means anything
And if it does to write it down my
Way as what I mean to be discovering
Not having to prove anything to
Anyone nor with many things anymore
Nothing left to lose nothing to fear
Out here alone with my curiosity
In the dark the light becoming clear
I know a little now but want to know more
Haunted to know better anyway
God knows it takes me awhile before I see
After some mistakes how I should say
What God shows me oddly in my poetry
Through all I went through I always knew
I always understood what I was here for
To wake up words and make them come true
Shake up what I had to by doing what I
Knew how to then and now I know why
Maybe I just need some more time to explore
This may be my opportunity
To transcend at the end and see what I mean
Between the lines in the in between
Of seen and unseen to see what I can do
After drilling oil wells on the way
My grandfather lived to a hundred and two
Writing poetry out here like me
Taking pictures of the desert out his door
Maybe we just take awhile to be
My 66th season that starts this new year
May be the reason I am still here
Love ya!
