The Orange Public Library
Was around the corner from
The house on Cleveland Street very
Close cut through the parking lot
And there you were where I would come
To find out about what was
Going on outside of Old Towne
With its artificial E
Silent in reality when
I went there if I was down
Back then I was down a lot but
Knowing there was more to know
I learned so much that I forgot
Myself awhile and would grow
To feel at home where I could go
Through the parking lot to see
A lot to see becoming where
I made a lot of friends there
And found myself becoming me
A few blocks from Plaza Square
They had copies of paintings I
Checked out and hung in my room
That went with adolescent gloom
Vincent and that starry sky
Made me sorry but I knew how
He felt and felt that way too
I felt he understood somehow
And I wondered if he knew
Of me and my to be or not
Then but I think he did now
At the checkout my friend Sherry
Was always there to say hi
Checking out Steppenwolf again
I knew who I was because
I found a place where I could be
The way out for me was in
The Orange Public Library
Where my journey would begin
And I learned what little I know
Now through the parking lot then
