Embers

Right about now I could write about how
To get through as if I knew but I do not
Trying not to be dying for the Dow
Though the lying are trying to get me to
Trying to stay out of the way of what
Might be a dystopian nightmare come true

Hoping to awaken right about now
From this mistakenness making its mistakes
At the expense of those left defenseless
By the uncaring not having what it takes
Taking the unwary to senselessness
Insensate to the fate of humanity

Taking and breaking and making a mess
Raking in money but funny thing how that
Makes them want everything take nothing less
Leaving us with nothing but reality
Not knowing how but to get through somehow
Still believing it better to be than not

Memories of what some fight about now
Again from back then on black and white TV
Haunt me making me want to be free but
I never knew it could ever be this way
Again though it had been so you could see
Lessons are repeated until learned they say

Remembering what the uncaring forgot
Embers reigniting right about now

If we don't learn from our history, we are going to repeat it. Hopefully, good will come out of all of this turmoil.
