Missing Piece

by Elisabeth Barstowe — Read all 441 poems by Elisabeth Barstowe

Don't even ask me what this is all about, I may have to stop reading all these sociology books to make some sense again.

Tuesday, April 27, 2010

It's coming up a bit short,
it's not all there,
this ship can't reach the shore.

It's navigating treacherous waters
sharkinfested pools,
all sorts of pirates on parade.

It's Hi-Ho and a bottle of rum
it's heeve-ho and a shot of dumb,
sailing into calm waters of numb.

when the surrounding waters are treacherous, its sometimes necessary to placate yourself ...

This sounds like the book "The Princess Bride". If you've not read it, you may find clarity there. Nothing like a sensible, sensitive Wesley to put your mind (minds?) to write. My pen knows a lot more than my brain too.

Now take those sharkinfested pools for example...must be all crammed together as the word suggests. There's only one way those fishies could have gotten there. I say they were planted. But then again, perhaps they tip-toed there in the dead of night when not a soul was thinking about how they only swim. Or perhaps the Dread Pirate Roberts left them there after his last pillage and plunder. Do they by chance shriek?

Ask Fessik to carry you up those cliffs of insanity so you don't have to climb them yourself. He can do it carrying three people, after all. Can I come too? --Charlie

I like the feel and the flow of this. It's a bit dark...just enough to suck me in.

Peace,

Ouch! Sure does not sound like a relaxing adventure, yet interesting....

Hi Elisabeth, You have done it again! This one really hits home with me, at this particular time, giving me another lens to consider. Although, I think I'll do the sailing into calm waters without the rum. :*) Great write. Be Well, Carin'

i really really liked this...my brain doesn't always 'reach the shore' and i like it like that...

it may be that you've penned a new phrase like...'2 sandwiches short of a picnic'....'her elevator doesn't go all the way to the top' any way it was clever

Sometimes we don't have to make sense when writing poetry...in fact I think now and then it is good to just free write whatever comes to mind and come up with a whimsical smile of a poem.

I guess you dipped into your mind and came up with some creative stuff, Elisabeth; I love to do that; and sometimes it works; like it did for you here. Love and best wishes,

Regis

The puzzle can still be complete, without that piece! It is and has been a part of the Big Picture, even though it is not seen.

Don't ask me where this comment came from, just popped out as I read.

Peace, SS
