Torn Rose Petals

As I walk down the brick worn street

The fallen rain began to speak

Of footprints that once traveled there

And how their souls disappeared into thin air

I continue to listen as a story unfolds

Streetlights reveal petals of a torn red rose

The petals pointed to an Eastward direction

There appeared a bench with a man’s reflection

He was hurrying home before the moon rose above

He stopped by the florist to get a rose for his love

The man hadn’t heard the news in the air

His love was in an accident and her soul wasn’t there

He stopped by the florist to get a rose for his love

And tore the rose petals before the moon rose above

He sat on that bench everyday wondering why

As his pain grew to tears and his tears grew dry

With every torn rose petal his heart grew lonelier

Until his soul wasn’t one with his body no longer

Tear filled rose petals carried his soul to his love

Before night fell and the moon rose above
