The blanket of snow in the yard is a welcome mat to me.
It brings my heart joy I never thought to see
As I wasted away in a place where I didn’t want to be.
The frosty air that greets me is a reminder of the past
Of a time when I was young and thought my happiness would last
Until I closed my eyes and into glory passed.
Nature’s beauty now surrounds me and I appreciate it with eyes new
Because I’m in is a place where joy dwells and troubles are just a few
A place where I can be me and friendships are true
I have come back at last to reclaim the peace of mind
That I had lost while roaming into what adventures I could find
Yes, I have finally come home to retrieve the joy I left behind.
