White Horse and Rider

I am doing four poems about the four horsemen of the book of Revelations. The first horse released is the White Horse and the Conqueror.

The sky thickened with clouds

And thunder rolled

Because something unnatural

Was about to unfold.

Suddenly, there was a noise

Not of man nor beast;

A scream rather than a cry

That strengthened rather than decreased.

Then the sky split open

And it could be heard stomping

Its great hooves as it waited

Impatient to begin tromping

Things with it massive feet.

Then it raced across the sky

Where I could see it

And I wondered why

Though white in color

It was something dark and fearsome

With death

Its final outcome

Upon the horse’s back

Sat an awesome sight

A crown of authority upon his head

And the sword he wielded was might.

Here was a conqueror,

A warrior bold and sure.

Fire shown in his eyes,

They were the perfect lure

Into the net of the conqueror

Sent by God’s Son

To open the last days

That His victory might be won

Horse and rider thundered

Out of the clouds on high

To plague those who still lived

As he cris-crossed the sky

Leaving in his path

War and captivity’s slavery

As the princes, kings and emperors fell

To the White Knight of Eternity.
