While dragons are considered to be mythological creatures, there are representations, stories and images of them in almost every culture on earth. Are they real or just part of man's collective imagination, that is a question only you can answer for yourself.
Most people don't believe Dragons ever existed, But I'm not one of them Because I simply don't agree I have a Dragon Lord, For my lover And he's as real As real can be.
I often ride the midnight sky Perched upon his back. Together we travel on air currents Reaching for the stars Bathing in the moon's dim light Then head out through the milky way We fly acroos the starlit sky From Earth to the planet Mars.
We wander to Saturn's rings And on to Pluto's moon. We weep when the sun comes up For our pleasure ends too soon, But we both know that we'll ride again Because of my dragon's love for me. And every night we'll take flight Above the Earth's land and sea.
For more lifetimes than I can count We have been lovers and friends He has been my wisdom, And his love for me never ends With his knowledgee as my guide, And his magic as my aid, Each flight we hope will be the last In this mortal form to be made.
For when my last lifetime is done, And I move to another plane I will shed this human countenance That has for centuries been my bane And take back my dragon shape, My true self once more to be We will again be together as one My Dragon Lord and me.

Right on, Bobbi! I'm with Jude and Vesna on this. Life and love with Dragons is far nicer than "life according to CNN." Write on!

I love this Bobbi. I see more here than just a poem about mythology. I see a deeply romantic poem, written from the heart and soul, and her man is her Dragon Lord. Very beautiful, Bobbi, thanx for sharing.

i beleive in Chinese culture, the dragon is a sign of good fortune and it seems this is what this poem aspires to ... enjoyed the imagery and sentiment you used ...
There is something of Beauty and the Beast when a woman takes a shine to a dragon. But then the fiery breath, the scaly skin, and the uncut, overly long claws and beard, and wings that take flight are probably just a personificaton of the old man flying to the pub every night. Only to return to his sleeping maid in her dreams in the wee hours.
