I The Silent Thief t comes in waves Forcing me to steel myself Lest I give in And fail to resist The temptation To give up my life To escape it. It is the sluice That silently steals who I am As it seeps into My bones Draining away My strength Sapping my energy Impoverished by its presence I cling to the old self That I remember The me that existed Before pain Became my Constant companion.
