The Den (Answer to Jack's Challenge)

This picture was done by my son, Michael D Grim, for the Songs of Survival Book for the poem Weeping Roses. I tried to crop it, but couldn't, sorry.

The Den

There is a place I go
When my soul I need to nourish.
There my friends feed my soul
And encourage my thoughts to flourish.

When I’m sad
I scour the pages for a laugh or two
To brighten up my spirit
As only friends can do

When I’m on a rampage
Against the injustices of life,
My fellow poets listen
Without adding to the strife.

They leave me gentle messages
That tell me when I wrong,
But, when I get a verse right
They praise it loud and long.

I’ve told them of my life,
My family and goals,
And they have lovingly responded
From deep within their souls.

I’ve tried my best to honor them
As they all deserve
By this little ditty
Jack’s challenge did innerve.
