Love, hate and Abuse

A girl so besotted by her abusive boyfriend that she lives a lie that she can change him for the better.

See the girl in the blue flowered dress,
with a cut on her lip and her hair a mess.
One eye blue the other black,
she's only waiting for her man to come back.

She knows that he loves her though he'd never say,
and she's sure she can change his ways one day.
He beats her, he loves her, that's what she believes,
and it's only her fault that he deceives.

She dreams all day of the children she'll raise,
and a cottage with roses, ah! happy days.
He'll get a job and stop drinking maybe,
and he'll only hit her occasionally.

they'll live ever after, as happy can be,
and she really believes it, she just can-not see.
She can't love for two, though she thinks that she can,
she gave up a life for this cowardly man.

But the dreams of the future are all pie in the sky,
a man such as this would never comply.
His drinking will worsen, his anger more mean,
she can dream of a life, but she can't live a dream.

He's gone to his lover, but she knows he'll return,
her friends say she's crazy, she never will learn.
When he knows that she's pregnant, he'll be angry and sore,
and though he hates kids, he'll love this one, she's sure.

How much longer, can she live a lie?
How many tears has she left to cry?
She mistook rape, for love and pain,
he says that he's sorry, but he'll do it again.

The best years of her life he'll have taken away,
when he's used and abused her and made her pay.
But love turns to sorrow, sorrow to pain,
pain turns to hate, then sorrow again.

So she'll walk away, her head held high,
no more pain to endure, no more tears left to cry.
With her kids in tow, her sad life she'll flee,
to a future that's bleak, but at least she'll be free.
