It isn't easy staying young
as hard as you may try
when packages of wrinkle cream
are stacking ten feet high

buying all the latest clothes
shoes that never fit
music from the latest bands
every single hit

trying all the latest fads
raves and parties every where
trying every fashion
every way to style your hair

you even have the latest phone
you try to be a geek
always staring at the screen
when you cross the street

texting when you're out with friends
every where you go
so the followers on twitter
are always in the know

Staying young is costly
it wears the pension thin
although you're contemplating dealing drugs
you know you cannot win

the march of time's against you
your age is showing through
the mantle of a drug dealer
is not the one for you

advanced in years, it's noble
an achievement so be proud
having lived as long as you have
makes you stand out from the crowd

time to put your feet up
relaxing that's a start
remembering that with old age
you're always young at heart.
