The Sprite and the Sow

The acorn sitting in its cup
The Oak majestic and tall
Fields blazoned with buttercup
A sprite loves them all

At the foot of the Oak, truffles grow
In the wake of the dancing Sprite
Wings quivering all aglow
Dancing into the night

The morning sun glints curiously
Through a curtain of leaves and bough
Still the Sprite dances furiously
She hears an approaching sow

Snorting with a feverish gait
Truffles to seek out
The sprite will not wait
To see her gluttonous snout

Sharing this piece of woodland
The sow and the sprite
For each it’s their heartland
By day and by night
