The Bear rolled over on his bed
And came face to face with little Fred
He could not believe an armadillo
Had the nerve to lie upon his pillow
It’s bad enough that just last week
The whole world got a chance to peek
As Fred sat high upon his head
Now Fred was on Bears cozy bed
He could have him for his lunch
He would be a tasty munch
But Fred just stared into Bear’s eyes
Do you think that this is wise?
He did not invite this little pest
To share his favorite little nest
Bear told him if he did not go soon
He would send him to the moon
Then Fred became the weeping willow
Crying there upon the pillow
I have no friends he said to Bear
Armadillos look odd don’t you care?
We have pointy ears and pointy snout
And not much else to talk about
We use our snouts to snuff around
To uproot insects from the ground
I really did not mean to offend
Are you sure you cannot be my friend?
If you let me stay here on your bed
I promise not to sit on your head
Bear thought about his broken toe
And how it makes him walk very slow
Because being different is really OK
Bear let the Armadillo stay
And now they are to each best buddy
Splashing in puddles and getting muddy
Now isn’t that the right thing to do?
Finding friends who are not quite like you
