Petey’s my big brother

He taught me how to stretch

Across our doggie pillows

And also how to fetch

He is a black retriever

I am just a mix

But he treats me with respect

And gives me lots of licks

We both came from a rescue

Our roots are quite unclear

And we really do not mind

Because we’re welcome here

I went back to the rescue

Today to find another

Friend who needs a loving home

Someone to call my brother

It was very scary

I had lived there long ago

I met some dogs that weren’t quite right

And it hurt to let them know

So I’ll go back again next week

To seek a mutt for our den of love

To find the perfect pack mate

With help from Dog above
