I reviewed Jasmin Horst's poem (I do what I can)this evening and then decided that the review should probably stand alone as "food for thought." I'll not soon become vegan, probably never, but still....

My dear friend I must confess
Your message that you do profess
Has so much merit that to deny
Merely serves a common lie
That protein has to come from meat
To make it fully fit to eat
To those who've made the that quantum leap
Who spare the hog and cow and sheep
Your Karma blooms for all to see
And provides a path for folks like me

I am vegetarian too..simply cannot eat another animal. For me, I think I was born vegetarian, because I refused to eat meat as a child too. This is a great review. I'll check out her poem.

Don't tell Jasmin, but out there they sell camouflaged BBQ cookers! Do elephants lie eggs?

love that people are willing to even consider the bigger picture of life on this planet...veggie myself 4 yrs, initially a health choice, then a conscious one due to the brutality most (not all) food animals are experiencing...ditto Jasmin comment below and love to you for allowing yourself to contemplate it...you know what they say "be the change you wish to see in the world"

Never intend to be a veggie but have cut back much of the steak I used to eat and substituted a nice fish salad.

I tried once to be a vegeterian, for a whole year
didn't lose any weight, felt no different
so I went back to enjoying what I ate best "Meat"
Peace be with you all

Patrick you little devil, even thinking and trying to not eat meat, is a very big step, so here is a big hug for trying, it took me ten years to quit smoking, and it took only one slaughter house visit to give me the impetus, plus another so many years, it's one of the oldest memories taste and smell, I was grinning at your last write, for I knew excactly what you were going through, you could taste that knacker long before, right, well I tell you, I was raised amoung the best of them, there are twelve hundred different kinds of sausages in the old country, one better than the other, and like you, I can taste them still. I am no angel, I fall prey to wanting, but to help me now, and it seems to help, especially since I do art, and that is to visualize that poor creature on my plate, with its eyes looking at me. I appreciate your precious poem very much, and urge you to stay healthy, for I enjoy your humour, and wouldn't want to miss it. By the way, I knew, you would now. Bless you,and thank you again! Jasmin Horst
