I was just a kid

playing out on the street,

yet inside I wanted

to escape.

Not run away

nor hide

just disappear deep inside.

Scribbling doodles

writing poems

talking to myself

as if I needed no one,

and there right ther

my journey begun.

I dreamed and danced

with all of my dreams

though they were not

for others to see.

Not the thing his father expects

a sissy son

who would like to tap dance

write and be someone.

So those dancing with dreams

kept me alive

I knew I would always

one day arrive.

You do not have a dream

and let it go

it belongs to you

its who you know.

Believe in yourself

for there is the dream

Take no as a yes

you can and the rest

will unfold as you dance

You see I was

and I am

the kid back then

now I am living my dream.
