the person within

not you the one they can see.

Oh you say

and if you asked him

he would say

'To have the knowledge that I have,

and start all over again.'

thats what I am

you know that cannot be,

that was not part of the plan.

Your born to be a child

play games in the yard,

then to be a teenager

where passions run wild.

Then you mature,

well in your case its a maybe,

perhaps you get married

and raise a family.

Ah I see where your coming from

Well its all back to front

now the kids have grown up

and I am a grandad

well I want to be me find a door.

I want to pick up

from where I left off

just have the chance

because it was always in here

somewhere in my mind

just never came out

when I was back there

as a child.

My father never wanted

me to go to something odd

like art college,

had it mapped out

what I'd be doing

wasting my years as an electrician.

Glad I never did it

to any of mine,

though he meant well

I never made them live

travelling on the wrong line,

some got it right

some not so sure,

maybe they are like me

like to go back

try it some more.
