Through the door

into the room

been the same since the day

the builders moved away

little has changed.

It is in a house which has stood

on this ground

for 77 years

that room has seen

much laughter

many tears.

Parties with many faces

children growing

through their ages.

Radio news that told of war

man on the moon and so much more.

A room in which music was played

on large black 78's

and now comes through the internet

oh how this room has seen change.

A room in which a child was born

where once sat

those that have gone,

where walls have changed appearance

so many times

and windows used to be sash cord

now are uvpc white.

Oh room

if you could speak

if you could actually write a book

what a tale

you could tell,

and you will be here longer

than I shall be

perhaps being a room

might suit me.
