They sit awaiting their call
those pessimistic words
that have the power to deny
destroy an optimists life.
If is the purveyor
the leader of the pack
sows doubt in two letters
a mind hack.
Maybe lingers
delays ones aspirations
until confidence
dilutes into foggy illusions.
Never is death
to a tired heart
resigns the hearer to believe
no point why should I fight.
If
maybe
never
why not leave them out,
be a pessimistic optimist
try again
and leave doubt out.
