Those day dreams of escape.

Poem Artwork

Those eccentric thoughts

that erupt in my head

become so vivid

so real

like the rolling news,

with me up there

wherever it is

on some dream cloud

turning so many heads.

Then in the back and beyond

a voice pops the bubble

'Are you alright John

anything wrong?

are you in trouble?

you look kind of glazed.'

Those eccentric thoughts

vanish at once

as if scared they might get caught

leaving me with a smirk

as I reply

with my usual,

'No it's alright

just off with the faries,

you know what it's like.'

My friend at work

he smiles and nods

as if in acknowledgment

he begins to reply,

'Maybe one day John

our numbers will come up.

Then them dreams

will bring us good luck.'

So we brush it aside

niether too familiar with luck

instead we pour some Coffee

into our mugs.

Wow! Haven't we all been there as writers? Lost in one world, working in another, with someone who takes note that we floated away. I love this poem!
