I read a statement somewhere that said...'Life is not about the Destination...but the Journey'. I do not agree with this statement because, for me, my 'Journey of Life' is definitely about the 'Destination'. I can honestly admit that if not for the anticipation of one day reaching my 'promised' Destination...I would have given up on 'Life' a long time ago. It is the Word of God that keeps me. It tells me that if I 'hold out' the reward that awaits me will be more than worth 'anything' I have gone through down here.
How grateful I am to Almighty God, for He, knowing how difficult journeying would be, provided a sure way for us to reach our destination. In His infinite Wisdom and Great Love, He has littered our roads with 'fruits'...beautiful. When these Golden Fruits are eaten our spirits are lifted, our hearts encouraged, and our bodies are revitalized. We are filled with the so needed gift of FAITH...without which we could never reach our Destination.
This Journey of Life, with its ups and downs, sorrows and joys, bitters and sweets, fulfillment and disappointments, smiles and deep pains, can often obscure our vision. People don't decide to end their Journey of Life because they can 'see' their Destinations but because, they can't see their Destinations. They can't 'see' any reason for holding on. They can't see any reason for hanging around for another sunrise. They can't 'see' that there is a reward...a prize...at the end of their Journey. They think that whatever they are going through, or experiencing in their Life, is all that there is to their Journey. Thus, when their difficulties are so much greater than what they can 'see', they choose to give up on their quest to reach their Destination.
I know this to be true because it is my personal testimony that the only thing that has kept me from losing my will to live is 'knowing' who awaits me...and what awaits me. My Journey is sure because I 'know', beyond a shadow of a doubt...where I am going. Life, for me... is about my Destination
If we had more Joyce M Bells in this world...we might just not have as many problems as we have now. It takes one step then anotherto reach that destination. and the destination is salvation.

Sorry I am so late wishing you a beautiful and blessed Birthday Joyce. I have been so out of touch for a long time now. I pray to be back on track soon...and will be with God's loving guidance.

It still is about the journey. And during that journey some experience nothing. You have experienced a great deal and have shared it with us. So happy birthday and many more.
Hi Joyce... It's been a while, but I had to respond to your beautiful writing! Often we cannot see our destination, yet, we journey on in a fog of confusion and uncertainty... Not really knowing where we'll end up... This has been my experience ...but that's when "faith" comes into play. My journey too has been rough! Many times I didn't think I would arise out of some of the valleys I found myself in. But my God - my life coach, my mentor, my healer, my protector kept me on the path. I listened to Him, I held on to Him, I found comfort in His presence. Even when the journey found me alone, desolate, sick, hungry, facing death... I still held on to Him... Not knowing where I'd end up; and today, in my 60's also, I find myself in a place I never dreamed of. He brought me to a most beautiful place, in every sense of the word... I am at peace, and doing His works to help others. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR LADY, And may God continue to bless you! :-) Janice

I really like the NAILED part of your acrostic, Joyce... speaks of a sacrificial life, taking up and carrying our cross, bearing our own burdens, while also bearing one anothers burdens, remaining focused upon the prize... not an easy thing to do in today's harried, hurried up world... if you can keep your head, while others around you are losing yours... and all that other Desiderata stuff, but mainly remembering that he who has begun a good work in you will see it through until the day of salvation! Now that is a destination worthy of the journey! Thanks for a thought-provoking read again, Joyce.... simple, but profound!
Happy Birthday Joyce. The splendor of life is in rejoicing with what God gave you. At times it may not be that great but that is when your faith in God shines if you place it in His hands.
What is it all about Joyce? I mean really, this birthday thing, why is it so important? Has society sold us a bag of goods?
