*We are…still…here, today…* *yet, we know there lies ahead…a long, long way* *We are…still…here, today…* *embattled, yes…but forever we’ll fight racism’s conclave* *We’ve donned the cloak of countless worthy souls* *who veered not…but… wrenchingly espied our goal* *In us…their memory is etched, not without…sear* alas! how they…journeyed…with drops of crimson tear! Albeit, for a moment…we did taste…the dawn of victory… only now to find…our gains are stomped…by supremist revelry However, we can’t deny…’Twas GOD…who opened that door ‘He’ allowed…the entrance of…The Hill’s…present rancor Thus, we understand…this is just another…faith test… which we…shall overcome…in our reach for equality’s crest Lest, our young ones be robbed of what is theirs to possess… the awareness…the knowledge…of their royal bequest The road has never been easy for us…so full of thistle… our forefathers did, and now…we…must continue…to wrestle Against the odds, with…GOD’S Grace and Strength…we’ll stand… running-on with our…Baton of Golden History…in our hand! Embattled, yes…but we’ll fight forever, this land's unfair stave… within a rough and difficult road, yet with heaven's help, we'll not delay... For, we are…still…here…Today! Thank you for this thought-invoking poem. The use of black letters already lay a heaviness on the poem, besides your normal use of colors. It may be necessary concerning the seriousness of the subject. May we never forget, and find our truth in the Lord.

Yes, although ancestors were forced to come to this continent and have struggled for freedom ever since, the essence of Black History Month is to never forget what people went through to enjoy the freedom that some have and some are still trying to get. You have pointed out the struggle very well and where we have to go from here.

A very touching write Joyce. I can feel your emotions through your words. This one is a classic. Kind of reminds me of Maya Angelou�s �Still I Will Rise.� You are very gifted and favoured and that alone makes you stand out.
