My husband ask me this morning to post a poem here at the Den he had written to me in 1996.

Real Dreams

Our dreams can be real when reality is a dream

And the light may be far but its closer then it seems

The choices we make aren’t always clear

Should we go or stay with our fear?

Darkness consumes the sun and the day ends as it begun

With a stranger she knows she lies in the night

Hoping to find strength from a distant light.

Her head fills with thoughts, her eyes with tears,

She dreams of a light that will seize her fears.

Our dreams can be real when reality is a dream

And the light may be far but its closer then it seems

The choices we make aren’t always clear,

Should we go or stay with our fear?

To meet this light alone she must be,

Leaving her mask in order to see.

Distance was needed, the stranger must stay,

The journey is not long but it’s far away.

So she rose to the heavens for the promises made,

Quickly she must move, for the Magic may fade.

Our dreams can be real when reality is a dream

And the light may be far but its closer then it seems

The choices we make aren’t always clear,

Should we go or stay with our fear?

The end is near, her head on his shoulders;

He feels her warmth as he longs to hold her.

Then the morning sun stole the dream from the night,

It won’t be long till again, she holds him tight.

For when the distance returned the light didn’t fade,

Because what she was given she also gave.

Our dreams can be real when reality is a dream

And the light may be far but its closer then it seems

The choices we make aren’t always clear,

Should we go or stay with our fear?

How beautiful that you share a love and a gift for poetry. This is a wonderful, deep poem to read and contemplate, all the more magical and meaningful because of the circumstances you are experiencing.
With love and prayers,
Connie

Tell your husband he should definately be writing and posting on here as well. His words are rich and as a poet but also a song writer I can see this easily being composed to music. Thank you for sharing your husband's as well as your own talents with us Deborah.
