Last week an earthquake hit D.C., a 3.5 on the scale.
Two days ago a tornado hit,
we were outside driving,
and all of a sudden it started to hail.

Tree branches flew through the air,
plants bent under the pressure of the wind,
lightening flashed and huge trees fell.

People got out of their cars to remove the debris from the road,
thank God we made it home unharmed.

The apt complex that we just moved out of did bad,
roofs torn off,
cars upside down,
no power,
a complete black out.

The police clocked out,
literally,
they came thru with flashing red and blues,
and told the residents,
"You are on your own,
we can't see in the dark,
we are going home."

The people grilled their food so it didn't spoil,
and gathered outside to talk about all that was going on.

Two people died that night in the storm,
the youth felt the dark clouds,
and called their neighborhood 'a tragedy waiting to happen'.

The earth is speaking,
are we listening?

Oil spills into the ocean,
but we still aren't seeing?

Natural disasters can sometimes serve as warnings,
folks better wake up.

Ignorance is NOT bliss,
it's dangerous to be complacent.

In a state of emergency who do you call?

What force do you depend on to make you feel strong?

The Source of all energy is the hand of God,
he keeps his hands around us,
a force field of protection.

When disaster strikes,
who is your god?

When the power is out,
and the ATM's are down,
when the stores are closed,
who can help us now?

Self reliance and faith in God,
that's the answer when all else goes wrong.
