Tommy

He came to us on a bright spring day, a very desired arrival.
Waiting arms gathered him and watched his first sweet smile.
We gazed at him in amazement, God’s own sweet baby dear.
Sent down from heaven to all of us, in that glorious and perfect year.

He grew and, oh, how we loved him, he must have known how much.
He played and sang, colored and drew, built castles, forts and such.
He was a miracle to all he knew, and he developed in his own sweet way.
A mind so beautiful, a body so strong, what will he be some day?

Four years we held him close to us, all snuggled warm in bed.
But, autumn was now upon us; dark clouds were overhead.
Nothing could have prepared us, for that fateful, awful day.
God looked down, He wanted him, and took our Tom away.

Ten years ago he left us, on a cool and sunny noon.
Our blonde little boy, was gone from us, so quick and much too soon.
We love you still our sweet young child, and wish you were with us.
But God has plans much bigger, and it is in Him we trust.

Thank you Jesus for the time you gave to love and nurture him.
He’s happy now, we know and trust with his grandparents and Uncle Jim.
God is our Father and wants for us only what is best and fair.
So we rest assured our dearest Tom plays in His tender care.
