Just a Domestic?

Fears

She woke and looked across the bed,
Fear came back into her eyes
Remembered hateful words that were said,
Remembered the children’s frightened cries.

She slowly creeps across the floor
Quietly dresses to greet the day
Goes downstairs, gently closing the door
Wishing she’d courage to run away.

Looks out the window, lost in her fears,
Starts cooking breakfast, soon Kids’ll be down.
She then hears them stirring, wipes away tears.
Greet them with smiles don’t show a frown.

Soon he to will be wide-awake.
She hurries to get the kids off to school,
Don’t want them to see, the scene he will make,
When she tells him she's leaving the fool.

He’ll say that he’s sorry, beg on his knees,
Promise that he will not hit her again.
He will get angry when he finally sees.
She'll no longer live with the pain.

She washes her hands as he enters the room,
She turns to look into his face
His arrogant smile then spells his doom.
The flash of the carving knife closes the space.

Calmly she washes the blood from her hand,
Makes herself coffee and smiles as he groans.
Now things are different, she’s made a stand.
She reaches across for the phone.
