Somethings Never Change

Upon earths' fertile shores
quills speak their golden whispers.
Between swollen crests of seas
silver tongues lay tribute to tomorrow.

Poets compose on scrolls
of saturated parchment where
ink can ne're dry and tomes
e'er be archived in testament.

Bards of old bowed before royalty
putting them on pedestals,
using their profiles on stamps and coins
for philatelist and numismatist to immortalize.

Times have changed with exposure.
The media scoffs and rebukes them.
Lyricists write and sing tribute
to their children, after death.

Styles may be different today
but composition remains the same.
Do writers seek emotional release through poetry ?
I believe so. Somethings never change.

Yes writers do I truly feel better after writing how I feel. But never can I put it as 'graacefully and beautifully' as you.
You are amazing.

I believe so as well.
It's the perfect way to cope with feelings and emotions. And even better if someone reads what came out of our mind.
Good one.

I guess poetry truly is an 'emotional release' Paul,I never really thought of it but yes,it is.
Poetry is emotion splattered out as words for all to read and hopefully... feel.
Isn't it great that there are still souls in this crazy world who enjoy and appreciate poetry?I would die without it,perhaps not the outside of me but surely, certainly, absolutely and totally on the inside,I'd die.
I love it love it love it and I love that you do too as indeed this excellent poem of yours reveals.Shine on poet!

No matter what style one choose to write their poetry. Poetry is a form of self-expression for the poet. Without the feeling of the self, it is merely a bunch of words taking forms - like eating a well cut sandwich with no mayonnais or miracle whip.

Stamps and coins, coins and stamps - more beneficial that words be collected to treasure on rainy Sundays.

Nice work, Paul. Perfectly lovely.

Poetry can be political, romantic, satanic and even boring but poetry...throughout the centuries of man...never changes it's way of getting the masses to see a different view. This is a super poem that tells of poetry's past...present and future.

Those of us who write are but slaves to the pen...even if we try to "escape" from that which drives us onward...we cannot...for not to write is a prison of another kind. Good to read you again, Paul!
