Haggard's Halls ( Part XVI )

It's clear, not brave, a world to save ;
My trek shall one day end.
Can't be a slave to every knave,
this will must not offend.

Tall tales and lies, before these eyes,
bring nothing but despair.
A spirit cries, don't act surprised ;
Revenge is sought with flair.

For future's sake, make no mistake ;
I'll give until the last.
Of this I spake, life's no remake,
trod egg shells, not on glass.

You can survive, keep hope alive,
Yes, you can have it all.
With style and grace there is no place,
quite like these Hagggard's Halls.

Very classical and tightly metred, Paul. Not easy to pull off as effortlessly as you make it. Reminds me a little of "Good King Wenceslas", in the nicest possible way! Love the line, which modernises it: "trod egg shells, not on glass"! :)) K xx

Paul,

I've eagerly been awaiting this, and I am not disappointed. You constantly breathe new life into this series with changes in the format while still staying true to its feel. Great rhyme and rhythm! -Sheila

"You can survive, keep hope alive, Yes, you can have it all;
