I think there is a sense of fate guiding us. But no one can fill us with passion, drive, and faith. No one can guide our reactions to our experiences. We react as individuals and maybe step off fate's path because of it. This one is thought provoking, especially the last two lines. I also like the line "steel hearts deny what others say." - This is an attitude which is extremely important as a writer. You have to put yourself out there and not care what others think. Many careers require that thick-skin attitude. Well done!

Do you believe that, Paul, that we all have a destiny? Are some meant to die horribly? Painfully? Or is it their lives that are destined to walk their path, death being merely a following of life... Are the gene-crippled meant to be such? I don't know, somehow, that doesn't sound right. The starving? The insane? The brutalized children? I think I might try a poem on this disturbing subject...

I like this a lot, Paul. It has a profound message and I like the form and flow as well.
