If They Could See Me Now

Living by antics, signs of a clown.
Some see me smiling while sporting my frown.
Carrousel ride, life's camouflaged treat,
Must force a laugh or succumb to defeat.

Wardrobes of garments, cover and please.
Under this cloth I'm caught in a freeze.
An ensemble devised with many extremes.
Emotional wears, riding these seams.

Exhibits are rarely all what they seem.
Most tendered to fashion, lost in my dream.
Reality covered by each chosen pleat,
Cores of existence hidden beneath.

Searching this soul, embraced in it's tears,
The heart of a man is embossed with his fears.
There must be a way, most fibers are thin,
Where even this jester, elusively wins.

Paul,
This is an excellent piece! I especially like the line "Emotional wears, riding these seams." Such unique wording in each line, though! Each person is so very complex. Sometimes we have difficulty understanding ourselves. This is creative reasoning for why a book should not be judged by its cover. Love and Hugs~

You write about something that many feel but can't express as well as you do here. This is so profound, straight to the core, and the way the last verse envelopes the whole piece. Very strong writing...
