Moon’s Death

Span-fragile, crescent moon of windy Spring
Rides cold waves of darkened night; cradling
Orb-blazed might, star, old-birthed and ovaling
Beseeches waning moon to stop its swing.
Wakening winds kite-tail moon sails without breath,
As twinkling winks of kindred stars incite
Moon’s moody flame to seek inside — in fright,
Reflected moon realizes it views death.
Companion star, depthless and wise, throws high
A breeze of hope, calms moon’s lament, begets
A siren’s call to lull moon to forget;
That fluid sunset must drown inner eye
Before beam’s strength, rebirthed on heaven’s shore,
Rains liquid light upon the earth once more.

Thanks so much for your comment on The Turning Point.
Sometimes it takes a while for articles and stories to
attract a review--this made me smile. Vicky
