Sitting out back on the picnic table,
enjoying the mid-morning sun.
Still chill, but deliciously heated,
with Fall on the last leg of its run.
The cats are alert and excitable,
enjoying the mid-morning sun.
The thrill is to attack with impunity,
then evade the retaliatory lunge.
I laugh at their gymnastic examples,
enjoying the mid-morning sun.
Still alive, and loving this planet,
while knowing the exodus has begun.
