Monsoon Bleeding

by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen

Sunday, July 24, 2005

Can you smell the dusty rain?
Do you gulp its fluid pain?
Does it grip your soul’s delight?
Does lightening flash your eyes?

The Monsoon has come.

Can you taste the rainy musk?
Do you gasp with cloudy lust?
Does it rip your soul in half,
As, too quickly, it goes past?

The Monsoon has bled.

Do you see the rainy cold
On horizons dark and bold?
Does it strip your mind to know
without rain your soul can’t grow?

The Monsoon has fled.

Do you feel like you’re in hell?
Can you grasp you’re just a shell?
Does it trip your mind to be
left behind to face the heat?

The Monsoon has won, again.

Your area could use a monsoon right about now, the heat must really be bad in the desert...just don't be sending it this way, we have had our fill already...

I enjoy how you lend a personality to the weather, it makes it more personable...Ed

Dear Erin,

So vividly and effectively penned you draw the reader right into the heart of the Monsoon.

Two very powerful lines:
Does it strip your mind to know
without rain your soul can’t grow?

Superb write Erin :)

Erin,

Can you smell the dusty rain?
Do you gulp its fluid pain?
Does it grip your soul's delight?
Does lightening flash your eyes?

It does, in your vividly described imagery--BRAVA! The monsoon comes to life. :)

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

So vivid! I could actually taste the dust from the monsoon on my lips. "Does it strip your mind to know without rain your soul can’t grow?" I love that line. I can tell that you have experienced the monsoons in your life. Hope all is well with you. I enjoyed reading this. Thanks, Leah C Wilson
