I looked into the mirror, again,
Tonight, thinking, even feeling,
I was alive, but, to my eyes,
My eyes looked flat,
Dead, uninterested.
“Damn it!” I thought.
“I’ve been working on this!”
“Stupid eyes, ugh-colored
Ever! Never blue-sighted!”
It’s always been a stalemate
When eyes meet eyes
In my mirror.
I asked, back-in-me, where the
Mirror came from, now. I think it
Answered me, with my own blank
Stare, wound with words not
Of my own making.
“Shut up!” I vocalized,
To myself. “You stupid ass!”
Eyes included, stare back
Into each other, binge-blighted.
It’s ever a checkmate,
When eyes avoid eyes,
It’s a mirror…
