The Ripping Dish

by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen

Sunday, November 29, 2009

I don’t know why
I’m ripping my heart out,
Into words, anymore.
I’ve forgotten more
Than I’m learning.

(Don’t you wish
You could dish
Up understanding,
Without a spoon?)

I can see why
I’m tripping my heart out!
It’s the words, anymore.
I can’t remember
Other learnings.

(Don’t I wish
I was a dish
Of understanding,
Without a fork.)

What’s up with why?
I’m stripping my heart out!
For what? I guess I’ve
Forgotten, again.
Am I learning?

(Don’t we wish
Peace was the dish
We really understood,
Holding the knife?)

Almost surreal, Erin is this questioning piece of poetical verses. When we wish we sometimes actually do go to the "Ripping Dish."

Concur with Peter, Erin: fabulous. Love the title, as well.
