Christmas Gifts

by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen

Wednesday, December 19, 2012

Seeds and mixes and lemon loaves
And Christmas! At my house, the
Deadline approaches! Postals
Are lacking, still bound to my
Hand. Late, again, of course,
Like a smile, hidden and slacking.

I've coddled my seeds and my cats and
My needs. Christmas or not, I’m guilty
Of greed. Why bind a ‘you owe’
To religion and house? Unbound at last,
It feels really good, being home, again!
Of course, like a hidden smile, I still am.
