I Forgot To Make Coffee!

I forgot to make coffee
I was in such a hurry
to get to this site
my robe in a flurry
to read the new poems
of love and first homes
of storm's all alight
children sleeping at night
then when I stood up
with my back in a knot
and looked for my cup
I found I had naught!!
So into the kitchen I went in a fit
the kitten fluffed up and huffed with a spit
no time to calm this unruly small thing
as I open the can and hear the small "ping".
I forgot to buy filters
so I rinse out the old
my nerves are in jitters
and, truth be told
my coffee I'm yearning
so hot and burning
to start off my day
in the best sort of way
the drip-drip is slipping
into my dear pot
as I stand here flipping
I'm an addict, so what?!

My kitten was jumping at and chewing my ankles as I was trying to make this coffee, between laughing and owing, I finally got my cup.
