Occurrences

It occurs to me
that caring can be
one-sided.
That common courtesy
isn't a common.
That genorosity of time
isn't reciprocated.
It occurs to me
the weak of character
feed on others
or forget
there is more than "I".
It occurs to me
this isn't anything new,
that death of soul
is planted
where it hurts the most.
In the center of a life,
it strangles hope,
murders insight,
knifes thoughts...
it occurs to me
things are hopeless,
and I feel helpless, yet,
mind's crash subsides...
the question is,
can it regain peace?
