Look Out! Imagination is Dreaming...

I was asked to be a guest poet today.
I’m feeling thrilled, yet slightly suspicious.
Still...maybe this will lead to something more,
I could go on to publish a poem or two
in a few magazines. And several on-line sites.
People would read them and like what I write
and I would get e-mails and letters
saying they wanted more, and big-time
publisher’s nagging me about a book of
my poetry.
I would start making money and looking
for a mansion, well, something smaller, at first,
by the ocean, for sure, tired of desert dryness.
Could hire a housecleaner, though, yeah, I
would love that! My unusual thoughts would
make strange poems where my innovative formats
would make everyone think like I do, setting
the poetry
industry on it’s ear and causing an uproar.
More e-mails and acclaim, then I would get the mansion.
My memories would live in my poems and touch people.
I would be able to reach into my mind, and all the phrases
and bits and pieces of words I’ve read and stored,
will spiral down to my fingers, acting as a conduit to
the cosmos and I~could~be~a~goddess...
but for now, it is 3:30 a.m.,
almost time to wake up.
