Theoretic Destiny

by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen

Friday, March 7, 2003

The ultimate power of Destiny,
the Master of Mystique,
includes the fallow designs
of fate, providence,
kismet, and luck,
irresistible doom,
inevitable demise,
our yin and yang,
our karma, our fortune,
our inexorable lot.

Are we preordained?
Who so decreed?
That some must live
in misery?
While other’s lives
are free?

The brutalized children,
is it their fate,
to be raped
and beaten down?

The soldiers of war,
are they premarked,
apportioned
before they are born?

The millions who starve,
is it their lot,
to slowly
waste away?

The car crash victims,
their circumstance,
are drunks the
course of design, today?

It seems to be,
appointed carelessly,
intended needlessly,
as predetermined futures,
of incorporeal occurrences,
abstractly formulate
our theoretic existences.

Erin, yes...yes, and why?
How all too horribly true...and as Katy said, this, this is 'hypnotic' and has an awe provoking 'terrible beauty'...
(((((you!))))
written with the blood of your heart and excetionally sensitive and truthful soul...damn, you have once again...showed us what a POEM can do...you, so gifted...(((you)))
Honestand painfully yourself, honest and beautifully yourself...so much CARING!
also, always...how deep that soul is!
Love You...

Erin,
"The soldiers of war,
are they premarked,
apportioned
before they were born? "
Very full of depth in verse.

My god, Erin! This is positively hypnotic in its scope and 'terrible beauty'.. a commentary that causes a rush of emotion so intense it took my breath away. You have woven a tapestry of gorgeous words and provoked thought that should not be ignored. WOW! I tip my hat.. you, my dear friend, are a poet extraordinaire! katy.

One of the best here today. I was speaking to a friend about the colors being alive over at the French Market today and how the sun reflected upon the cheeks of happy children and just how obsolete war seemed when you looked at the colors come alive and then listened to a child's laughter. I believe in harmony and I also believe there are ways around war. Sometimes it is lying in ones bed in the wee hours and listening to one's own heart. If you don't hear anything then you have a real problem The simple details of living gets bypassed constantly for greed.
I stll am a believer.
Love, peace and harmony,
Susan
