Missile Clouds

I wrote this as I watched the bombings the other night, but had another piece posted.

The ghastly sound
comes first,
unconscious flinching
strickens the mind,
as the whistling roar
approaches...
Seconds
resound and echo,
with dreadful intensity...
The lurid flash pierces
eyes unstartled surprise,
so near...
Muddied orange smoke-fingers
spiral into a
haunting, swirling column,
heaving upwards
with destructive release...
At the apex, it mounds,
and overspreads
its chaotic beauty,
before releasing
it’s fuming breath,
joining its brethren
in an awful
and searingly gorgeous
dance of death...
In its wake
lays fire, and rubble.

Perhaps they are, Gerry, in their own way, for another country's people...

This is why I am anti war. I support our troops, but the death and destruction will linger for decades. Excellent Write, Erin!
