As the morning sun comes slashing,
desert heat seems everlasting,
mirage of water fools beholder,
fiery rays flare ever bolder.
Seeking shelter from perdition
weakens will and brings attrition,
woe to those who lack ambition
caused by loss of rains volition.
As the pyre grows ever hotter,
moving limbs becomes a bother,
collage of dreams hangs in the air
leaving psyche unquenched and bare.
Seeking solace from submission
fires the torch and brings cognition,
inner strength eyes composition,
blazing light writes its rendition.
