Ever Reaching

Shadowed ceiling, senseless kneeling,
Time betroths its selfish hands,
Tentacled and, oh, so bold,
Captured, clay turns into stone.
Never after, misplaced chapter,
Sentience belies unknown, never seeing,
Ever-reaching, touch of thought,
Alone, with frost-tipped bones.
Clever reading, gracious meanings,
Lined by sides of angry casts,
Never-reaching, ravaged fingers,
Aspirated, flayed and cold.
