Sky Eyes

by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen — Read all 1,670 poems by Erin Elizabeth Kelly-Moen

Friday, February 20, 2004

You, blue eyes! Such an unfair advantage
to be marked by sky! Sky! Our cosmic womb
of life! Conceited in your circled bloom.
Adored by muddy brown-ground entourage,

or musty dusty hazel; even green’s
mesmerizing view must bow down to sky.
You, blue eyes! Startle me with clarity,
flicker-flash sun warmed glance my way! So keen

the flavor of balmy days, depthless seas,
and twinkling periwinkles seen anew.
And when you sleep, revitalize, blue
swept up to boundless lands will show life’s glee!

You blue eyes, mingle with my brown; we can
concept a world enriched by all-hued Man.

Jaysus, petunia, this is a doozy! I ran straight to the bathroom to gaze into the mirror, 'sky blues' just to see if I have this kind of magic you've written here. Yep.. they're a couple of pips, they are! But, of course, the best part is when they co-mingle with the browns and hazels and greens in life. That's the REAL magic, you clever think, you. sigh.. I love this one... keeping it safe in my library. katy xox.

Another beautiful write, Erin, so many descriptive words, gotta read it several times to get them all...that third paragraph for me is the best, maybe cause it has something in it about the sea...oh by the way, is it "4:20" somewhere near you? LOL! Peace thru Words, Ed & rufuz
