The moon on high lit the midnight sky,
and the ocean rolled in swathes
and the phoenix song led the mermaids on,
as they danced in the cold blue waves.

The dragons kept to the sky and swept,
across with lashing tails,
and the unicorn to the night was born,
and ran in stardust trails.

And the sun did rise in the centaurs eyes,
and he ran to the fading night,
and the griffin rose to the moon and froze,
as the dark melted into light.
