Won't you wish me a Merry Christmas,
and then a Happy New Year,
although I'll miss you just a little more,
with every festive tear.
Won't you hope for me good tidings,
and that I'm grateful for this day
this happy stretch of hapless love
as I tell them I'm okay.
Won't you meet me in the starlit sky,
and make my vision clear,
won't you hold me in seasonal sister's embrace,
and tell me you'll be there next year.
Won't you dance beneath the Yuletide moon
and sway between pure flakes of snow,
and I'll lament you as you leave,
and scorn my loveless mistletoe.
