Truth Laid Bare

I stand for love you can’t replace,
I stand for truth, but do not chase,
I stand for worth that won’t compete,
And have a spine that won’t retreat.

I won’t be part of half built dreams,
Of muted cries or hidden schemes,
I know my light, I know my spark,
I won’t be dimmed to suit your dark.

I want what’s deep, what’s true , what stays,
Not pretty words or passing praise,
I’ve learned too much, I’ve burned too long,
I’ve lost the urge to prove you wrong.

Respect or nothing, real or none,
I’m not the one to string along,
Unless you meet me heart to heart,
Peace will guide me to depart.

So here I stand, in truth laid bare,
Without illusions left to clear,
I’ve met myself through every end.
I walk with strength that won’t pretend.
