JIMI BLUES song lyrics
by Joel Sattler

the first time I saw Jimi
I was there right at the start
when he blew the roof right off the joint
with a blast right from the heart

the night was black outside
but inside all was fire
his guitar sang a song
like the angels' personal choir

and as morning came around
the crowd lost all control
and the colors came on down
and turned everything to gold

I loved to see him so
but I knew he had to know
just how far
how far
how far
how far
he could go

the last time I saw Jimi
he was flying up in the sky
pure and utter music
making the angels cry

floating away in the stars
and with the wind he run
shining like a Sirius
his own private miniature sun

and he never came back again
but his solo will never end
it is up there heaven sent
and I still remember when

I hated to see him so
but I knew he had to know
just how far
how far
how far
how far
he could go

I thought Jimi Hendrix was one-of-a-kind until I ran into a young fellow by the name of Freddie Everett. It seems that Freddie and channeled Jimi so well that it was hard to distinguish his performances from the real thing. And then, just as Freddie was about to make it, he got ALS and in just six short years, died. Leaving it up to future generations to make a guitar cry again like George Harrison and Jimi.
